You are considered a self-employed worker if you belong to one of the following categories:
You engage in your profession on an average of at least 20 hours per week.
Your average monthly income equals or exceeds 50% of the average wage - 6,885 (as of Jan 01, 2026).
You engage in your profession on an average of at least 12 hours per week and your average monthly income equals or exceeds 15% of the average wage - NIS 2,065 (as of Jan 01, 2026).
A self-employed person who does not belong to any of the above categories is considered, as far as obligatory payments and eligibility for benefits are concerned, a person who has an income from sources other than work.
